Convention Notes

UPDATE 5/17 4:19PM (the platform has been posted here)

Hi Mass Dems.

We're back!

The Party was running a skeleton crew Monday (not that we have a large crew to begin with) as folks took a much deserved day off to recoup after a busy and long convention week. We hope everyone had a great time and enjoyed the break-out sessions and the speeches and are starting to get excited about winning for the Democratic ticket in '06. Thanks to all of the volunteers, delegates, elected officials, candidates, party members, activists, and everyone else for all your support and hard work.

A few things of note:
  1. We are in the process of preparing the final versions of the official new Charter and Platform. We should hopefully have it live by today but it may be tomorrow.

  2. We are trying to gather the final versions of the speeches delivered to the convention, and we will try to post those as well.
Thanks again for all your support and help. More to come later.

Stem Cells and Republicans

Hi folks,

Sorry for the lack of posting recently, but we're in crunch mode as we prepare for the convention this weekend. We'll try to get a couple more in.

In the meantime, here's an interesting article from today's Weymouth Town Online. It appears that the stem cell issue might be causing a rift between Republican state legislators and some of their base.

Help At Mass State Convention, w/ Kennedy and Dean

Here’s your chance to attend our annual State Democratic Convention for FREE, and help kick-off our Victory ’06 Campaign—dedicated to defeating Mitt Romney to take back the Corner Office, re-electing Senator Edward Kennedy, and winning seats for Democrats up and down the ballot! It is a great opportunity to network and socialize with Democrats from across the state and to see Kennedy, DNC Chairman Howard Dean, Attorney General Tom Reilly, Deval Patrick and others!

The Mass Democratic Party needs 125 volunteers to help with the convention on Saturday, May 14 in Lowell. You, as part of the online community, are one of a select group of people being given this special opportunity, so don’t miss out. Volunteer activities include registration, floor monitoring and security. For your efforts, you will be allowed to attend the convention for FREE and given a FREE LUNCH. You will also be invited to official and social gatherings the night before and on the day of the convention. Volunteers will be asked to be available from approximately 8am-5pm on the day of the convention. We need a full group of volunteers in the morning, but if you can only stay until 2pm, that is alright.
